That section of my review has therefore been removed. The browser plug-in no longer works in modern browsers, which have moved away from NPAPI support.

I am still finding my way around the host of new features and changes, but I will update this page when I have had time to use the new version more and familiarise myself with the changes. The free PDF-XChange Editor replaced the free PDF-X-Changer Viewer several years ago. Reported bugs are often fixed in the next release.

Unlike other software companies, they donвЂ™t rely primarily on other end-users to provide support. Their responsiveness to users via their support forum is exemplary. The developers continue to add new features and fix bugs, releasing regular updates. Online help is available, or a PDF version (53.8 Mbytes). It is very customisable too, so if you donвЂ™t like the defaults, many things can be modified. Therefore, it may also be the cause of not being able to select text/objects in cases where it is enabled accidentally.PDF-XChange has some very nice features not found in Adobe Reader, but where it matters it follows the familiar shortcuts and layout of the established market leader. Please note that when Exclusive Mode is enabled it is not possible to select forms and other objects.

Click it a second time to disable Exclusive Mode. It is available in the Format Tab when applicable tools are selected:Д¬lick to enable Exclusive Mode and then use tools as normal. Press and hold ShiftВ to ignore existing annotations when tools are used.ДЄlternatively, Exclusive ModeВ can be used to give the active tool priority over all other document content. Optical character recognition can be used in these cases. If text cannot be selected then it is possible that the software is not recognizing the text because it is image-based (such as scanned content). If there is an annotation beneath the pointer when it is clicked, then the annotation will be selected instead of the active tool being used.ДЄdditionally, it is possible that Exclusive Mode has been enabled accidentally (see below for further information). PDF-XChange Editor gives priority to annotations before existing content/empty space. The shape annotation is selected when I click to add the text box, instead of the text box being added. However, when I click the text it is the highlight that becomes selected and not the text.ДЄnother example is when I have added a shape annotation to a document to which I then attempt to add a text box. Why can't I select text and/or objects in PDF-XChange Editor?ДЇor example, I have highlighted text and I would like to select the text beneath the highlight.
