The last Simulator that needs mentioned is 3D Train Stuff Run 8 Train Simulator. There is also a very nice selection of European routes, locomotives and rolling stock to experience what railroading is like on the other side of the pond. Third party creators are by no means nonexistent, just not as plentiful as I was use to in the MSTS community. The downside of Rail Works is the lacking of third party content creators. Just about all objects are selectable using the mouse, meaning you can throw switches using the mouse by clicking on the points of switchstand, uncouple cars and locomotives by clicking on the coupler, open and close doors and windows using the mouse. Some advantages of Rail Works over MSTS, Rail Works has 3D cab views, meaning you can look in any direction in the cab from both sides of the cab, MSTS in general only has a forward and side view from the cab. Like every new piece of software, there is a bit of a learning curve to creating your own route using the World Editor, but I've successfully created and modified several routes in the Rail Works World Editor. In my opinion this simulator has the best graphics of all simulators on the market. The name of the company has since been changed to Dovetail and the current product is Rail Works Train Simulator 2015. Yes you can say Open Rails has breathed some new life into a old simulator, but when using MSTS routes and equipment all Open Rails is really doing is adding a new front end to a old program.
